Irlen syndrome screening test

Irlen syndrome affects the way the brain perceives and processes visual information and causes difficulties with accurately seeing words, numbers and music, and is linked with light source, intensity, and black/white contrast. Those affected can experience visual disturbances such as blurring and moving of text on the page which can affect the speed and fluency of their reading. Discomfort when reading is also quite common in the form of headaches, drowsiness and fatigue. Difficulties can be reduced through use of a carefully selected coloured overlay, which is provided to those with a positive screening result.
